Corporate
Award Sponsors
One thing that gets the Students interest is what there is
to win at the YES Fair. SSVEC and AFCEA (Armed Forces Communications
& Electronics Assoc) are the prime sponsors (underline
is for link to sponsors page) for the Youth Engineering and
Science Fair and provide the trip to the International Fair
and the cash awards. Corporate Award Sponsors allow us to
bring more value in awards and offers a way for your business
or service organization to have an impact in the community.
Opportunities for Corporate Award Sponsors, have been in
the form of scholarships, cash, or gifts (non-promotional
items). Donors of Corporate Awards will be recognized on the
pre-award PowerPoint and the award will be announced from
the podium during the award ceremony. Presentation of the
award by a representative of the Corporation during the awards
ceremony is at the discretion of the Fair Director. Corporate
Awards must have a value in excess of $100.00.
- Scholarships: These usually would be
certificates that the students could submit to your company
with receipts for books, tuition, or school supplies to
be reimbursed by your company (you set the monetary level
of the award)
- Cash: These can be awards of cash, checks,
or savings bonds.
- Gifts: These should be valued at $100.00
or more such as computers, electronics, I-pods, digital
camera, etc…
- Other: If you have an idea of a different
type of award contact the Fair Director
Judging Criteria for awarding Corporate Awards, as the sponsor
your have the option of:
- Providing a Judge to determine the winner
- Providing judging criteria for use by the YES Fair special
awards judge
- Linking your award to a YES Fair Award (i.e. 1st place
team or Grand Prize winner etc.)
Vendor Awards
If you don’t feel you can contribute at the above level
we have another opportunity to support the YES Fair through
the Vendor Awards program run by two longtime YES Fair volunteers.
Tony and Phyllis Cohorn solicit small awards that kids like
and award them to students whose projects didn’t qualify
for other awards. These have ranged from promotional items,
telephones, bike helmets, jewelry, electronic games, to small
CD players and the latest electronic fad of the season. They
also accept small cash donations that they use to buy small
awards to distribute at the Fair. Winners are selected by
the vendor awards committee. Donations are recognized on the
pre-award PowerPoint, and your name is listed on the award.
Students are encouraged to send thank you notes to the sponsor.
